Cork City is one of my favorite places to visit in Ireland. I go to Cork at least once a year for business or pleasure. Cork City is fun rain or shine but in my experience, the forecast has more often been 'rain'.
I visited Cork City in late March for what turned out to be one of the most beautiful weather weekends of the year. It was a great opportunity to go on a photowalk and capture some lasting images of Cork.

Keep an Eye Out for Blooming Trees in Cork
Spring was definitely in the air when I traveled to Cork. The trees were positively exploding with blooms.
Grab a Pint
Save the Guinness for Dublin. In Cork grab a pint of Murphy's or Beamish for a more local experience.
Notice Cork's Architectural Accents
Cork simply shines when the sun is out and all the little details of the city burst forth. Keep an eye out for architectural accents like ornate tiles, pious crosses, rusty fences, and more.
I also loved the intricate signs advertising the pubs around town.Justice was even working on her tan against a beautiful blue sky.
I love the wrought iron fences in Cork, especially this one: Craicmore (actually, I think it's Craigmore but I like to think of Cork as a city that has more craic :-))
Stroll Along the River Lee in Cork City
The River Lee runs right through the center of Cork City and alongside University College Cork. The river and its banks are great for a walk and countless natural photo-ops.
Explore the Quadrangle at University College Cork
University College Cork (UCC) is one of my favorite campuses in Ireland. One a sunny spring day, the flower beds offer a stunning pop of color again the gray stone of the quadrangle.
I am a big fan of Dublin doors, but I have to say that this door with antique glass sparkling in the sun made me stop in my tracks on the UCC quad.
Open doors seemed to invite me in for a closer look.

The stone corridor at UCC comes alive on a sunny afternoon as the sunshine filters in. Get in touch with ancient history and walk among the runes.
Wander Through the English Market in Cork
The English Market in Cork City is a Victorian era gem of a food market. There is a light filled atrium at one end of the market with a colorful fountain decorated with tropical birds. There is nothing finer to see on a sunny day in Cork.

Take a Day Trip
There are plenty of day trip opportunities from Cork City that are ripe with photo opportunities. Take the train from Cork to Cobh and admire the colorful houses cascading down the hill.
The Blackrock Castle Observatory on the River Lee, is another picturesque spot to bring your camera.
Watch the Sunset over Cork
Want to know the best part of a sunny day in Cork? The sunset! The sky simply lit up for me as the sun went down with colors ranging from reds and pinks to bright oranges and yellows.
There is nothing finer than Cork (or anywhere in Ireland for that matter) on a sunny day.
