Camden Street to Temple Bar Detailed Itinerary
The Art of Coffee is one of my favorite coffee places in Dublin. Ruslan, the owner, won the Latte Art Championship several years back.
He's fanatical about training his baristas. They start by observing, then pulling the espresso shots, and only finally after mastering the art of coffee are they allowed to serve customers.
There are several Art of Coffee locations around Dublin but in this case, pop over to Art of Coffee on Harcourt Road for your morning caffeine fix.
After breakfast, browse the unique shops along Camden Street and don't miss out on the various photo-ops that present themselves. Camden Street is an Instagrammers dream. Be on the lookout for street art in the area, particularly on the lanes behind Whelan's.
For lunch, nip into Cake Cafe which is a Dublin hidden gem located in a tiny courtyard behind the Daintree Building on Camden Street. Stake out a table in the courtyard if the weather is fine.

Enjoy cake and coffee on old-fashioned and fancy mismatched china. The apple cake was especially memorable. You can also enjoy all-day brunch at Cake Cafe if you are in the mood for something more savory.
Continue walking up Camden Street after lunch. You'll find that the name changes even though the road itself is a reasonably straight shot: from Camden Street to Aungier Street to South Great Georges Street.

Near the end of South Great Georges Street stop into George's Arcade for some thrift store and crafty finds in a historic market setting.
Cross Dame Street and wander into Temple Bar for a visit to Cow's Lane. On the weekend you'll find a variety of Irish designers set-up rain or shine to sell handmade jewelry, clothes, and other crafts.
During the week, you'll find funky shops, a wine bar or two, and places like Queen of Tarts where you can stop for a cup of tea.
Next up, check out the street art on Icon Walk in Temple Bar. Temple Bar features some street art that is simply electric.

Icon Walk is situated on Bedford Lane. This back alley looks a bit intimidating at first but it's well worth a wander to see the icons of Irish history, writing, sports, entertainment, and more.
We lingered at a tribute to Bram Stoker and associated Dracula-themed street murals. We passed the Icon Factory and continued down the second half of the Icon Walk onto Adair Lane across the street. Some familiar faces from Father Ted made me smile.
You have a couple international choices for dinner in the heart of Dublin City Centre: upscale Thai food at Red Torch Ginger or Lebanese cuisine at Cedar Tree.
Grab a pint of Irish craft beer at the Norseman Pub in Temple Bar where you'll also likely find some live music to listen to while supping on your pint.
If you choose Red Torch Ginger, settle in to a table next to a seated Buddha and start your meal with a drink from the extensive cocktail menu. We tried the Mango Sidecar and the Cherry and Apricot Mai Tai.
For dinner, sample duck spring rolls and steamed dim sum rolls. Thai chicken salad and a fragrant chili basil with beef rounded out the meal.
Red Torch Ginger served up extra chilies at my request to kick things up a notch. If you arrive early enough, avail of the early bird special which includes a cup of coffee to keep your energy levels up for the evening ahead.
If you choose Cedar Tree, you must try the lentil soup served with a squeeze of fresh lemon. Platters of grilled meats and the hummus are great go-to options.

I have an Israeli friend who swears by the authenticity of the hummus at Cedar Tree. Save room for some flaky baklava for dessert.
For the evening after dinner, you have a few choices. Stop at the bar at Pichet for a fastidiously prepared cocktail.

Alternatively, head to the International Bar for stand-up comedy. If theatre is more your thing, head back into Temple Bar for a high quality but often experimental performance at the Project Arts Centre.
Music abounds in Temple Bar so you could also consider catching a gig at the Button Factory. We've seen an eclectic mix of performances over the years including upbeat jazz by Kyle Eastwood (Clint Eastwood's son) and nerd-pop compliments of They Might Be Giants.
Whatever you choose, it's bound to be a fun and enriching evening to end this one day in Dublin itinerary.
