Let's head to Lago Martiánez, an artificial saltwater lake complex right on the ocean's edge. For just 5.50 €, you can spend the day lounging by the water, soaking up the sun, and enjoying those incredible ocean views.
The water can be a bit chilly when you visit in December, but a quick dip is totally invigorating.
Day 2: Exploring El Teide—Tenerife's Volcanic Majesty
Today, we're conquering El Teide, the third highest volcano in the world! It's about an hour and fifteen minutes from Puerto de la Cruz, and the drive itself is a scenic treat, winding through picturesque mountain roads.
As you approach El Teide, you'll feel its presence—a majestic peak dominating the landscape. At the base, hop on the cable car for a thrilling ride to the upper station.

Time to experience Tenerife's capital city, Santa Cruz! To avoid the stress of driving, we opted for the efficient tram from La Laguna. The 15 minute ride is a great way to see the island's diverse landscape.
Santa Cruz is a fascinating blend of modern and historic, with bustling streets, striking architecture, and tranquil parks. Don't miss Parque Garcia Sanabria, a green haven in the heart of the city, filled with sculptures, fountains, and even a creative Christmas tree interpretation!
Make your way to Plaza de Espana, where you'll find striking structures adorned with cacti and other foliage.
Day 5: Farewell with a Sunset Spectacular
As our Tenerife adventure comes to a close, let's bid farewell with an unforgettable sunset. After a relaxing day at our leisure, we walked to Cafe Alba, a clifftop cafe overlooking the beach.
With a glass of wine in hand and the sound of waves crashing below, we watched as the sun painted the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple, casting a magical glow over Puerto de la Cruz.
